These mountains are amazing! Huge. The very
top ones were covered in snow glaciers with these awesome waterfalls.
Wow! Food is expensive in Switzerland! Top Ramen is 1.70 Swiss francs (pretty equal to the dollar) for one little packet! A 20 piece McNuggets is $46.00! Hot dogs at a little stand were $8 each! Even gas is $8 a gallon!
Today, we decide
to go South of Interlaaken to Brigerbad, where there is Europe’s longest
thermal waterslide. We have to get on a train, where the road ends, it doesn’t
connect to the lower part of the country.
Once we get to the water park, we find a big rock to jump off of, lots of grass (a nice break from sand), and a lazy river with some crazy strong currents. All the water is warm and the water park is lined with beautiful flowers.
We stay all day at the park until it closes at 7:00pm. It is a wonderfully relaxing day.
Then we decide to
drive home another way that we had seen earlier on Google maps. Genie keeps
telling us to turn around and go back the way we came from, but we keep going. It gets dark. We are on the top of a mountain
pass. Genie is still telling us to turn around. We stop for directions at the
Belvedere hotel, an ancient hotel on the very top of a mountain pass. The owner
googles us directions (even at the top of the world there is internet) and we
are back on our way. Finally, at the top of the last pass, Grimsel pass, Genie
tells us to go towards home, instead of turning around and going all the way
back.
We drive through
Meiringen, where two huge waterfalls are lit up at night. We finally make it
home around 11:00pm.
