Day 59: Day trip to Beautiful Venice!! (July 12):

Today, we are taking a day trip to VENICE!! It’s only an hour from our hotel. So we parked our car in the parking garage, then got tickets for a boat.  We all sat down and I got a window seat.

It was ADORABLE! Cute little colorful apartments, only about 1,000,000 tourists, and shops! The water was a nice royal blue! We went into St. Mark’s Basilica. It was cool. We saw where St. Mark was buried.

We walk around. The kids buy souvenirs – pigs you throw and they go flat, a ship snow globe, and Italia jackets.

We find the Rialto bridge and it is packed! One lady even stops and smiles for our picture with us.

We do manage pictures and keep walking – we find gelato and cups of fruit.

We eat outside – spaghetti, pizzas, and calzones – of course! YUM!
Someone enjoyed her pizza!
We walk away from the main drag and the crowds where it is just our family, and every kid except for me and Tanner stripped down to their skivvies and swam in the Venice canal for a while! The water may have looked pretty, but inside was most likely waste water! But now they get to say they swam in the Venice canals!

giving Dallin some extra TLC.

On the way back to the people mover (A monorail that takes you to mainland Venice from the island in about 90 seconds), we stop for post cards and Kennedi makes a friend – Gastone ( an elderly gentleman, who was a famous Venetian singer). They visit, and she asks, “What’s your name?” “How old are you?” He thinks that is quite funny. He walks us all the way to the monorail, helping us find our way.
Peyton wants to buy something for me with his souvenir money, so he very carefully chooses a dark, blue heart bracelet  and spends 3.5 euros on it. It’s beautiful and I love it!

We rode the people mover back to the parking garage and watched the sunset into Venice.
The perfect way to end a magical day!
