Day 58: Verona, Italy & we discover light up helicopters (July 11):

Today, we say goodbye to Switzerland and our farmer friends, who have both lived their entire lives in Hasliberg, Goldern. The farmer was actually born and raised in the same house he  still lives in. We will miss the Alps and the waterfalls, and the hollow melodic sound of cowbells slowly jingling as they swing back and forth on the cow’s neck.  But we will not be missing the exorbitant prices, the tunnels, nor the absence of public garbage cans – when you finally do find one, it is tiny and jam packed with garbage.
Now heading to Italy! We are staying in Verona, one hour away from Venice! On the drive, Peyton and Kennedi were fighting and Peyton smashed his peanut butter bread on her face!

Anyway, after  about 5 hours, we arrived at our hotel.  We drive to historic down town Verona, and park outside the city walls.
We had our first Italian pizzas! They were to DIE for! I had at least 5 pieces!

Then we walked around the hot – humid town. There were little colorful apartments,
millions of tourists, and an old coliseum, still being used, it was cool!

Later, we grabbed ice cream, it was so yummy! Italy is the best! LOVE the food!

As we are walking two elders (Money & Pitt) ride by on their bikes. They stop and we chat for awhile. We have seen a number of missionaries on the trip and it has been good for our kids to see and think about their missions they will be serving.
We also walked to Juliet’s house from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliette. It was pretty from the outside. I don't know why, but people stuck gum all over the gate outside it.

Dallin bought this helicopter toy that lights up and flies in the air, with his souvenir money. Dad tried it and it landed in the drain! He gave Dallin more money for another one.
We walk around, and get a little lost trying to find our way out of the city and to the parking garage. When we get back to our car, we discover that we had left our sliding door open to the van. Miraculously, everything is still inside. It got late, so we went home.
